MARTINICA GASTRO BAR • ONE PLACE IN MADRID YOU’LL NOT WANT TO MISS
Located at number 73 in the Calle Francisco Silvela, Madrid, MARTINICA is a small, attractive bar where you can enjoy wonderfully traditional food served in a contemporary style that fuses tradition with modernity in a relaxing, pleasant environment.
The idea behind this interior design project was to reflect MARTINICA’S brand identity. The owners, Javier and Rebeca, shared key ideas with us, explaining the background and history to the delicious food they prepare in this corner of Madrid. Traditional food with a light and surprisingly modern twist; a reworking of traditional recipes to create original dishes full of flavour and texture.
We wanted to reflect the essence of MARTINICA whilst making as few changes as possible. This was a significant challenge, as our starting point was the complete opposite of what the brand represents. As the saying goes, “beauty is in the eye of the beholder” and the key to beauty here, was in the COLOUR.
We changed the colour palette for a simple, neutral selection of whites and greys that complemented the granite floor and we made a feature of the old steel bar using plain white metro tiles.
The wood used behind the bar and the tables themselves brought a warm touch to the premises and, together with the floral details, helped create a calm, light environment where delicious, traditional food and a flawless service can be enjoyed.
