SELECTION OF WORK UNDERTAKEN FOR ARCHITECTURE FINAL DEGREE PROJECT

The project is located on the Island of Minorca. More specifically, around 2 km from Ciudadela in the Pedreres de S’Hostal quarries. This location is also known as LÍTHICA.

LÍTHICA is full of sharp contrasts and the concept of <<limits>> is an interesting and defining idea. It is a place where you have to first lose yourself in order to find yourself again. IT IS SOMEWHERE TO DREAM.

The question was how to work in such a powerful and complex place where empty spaces play an unquestionable role without imposing or being excessive, whilst at the same time bringing shape and clarity. We didn’t want to impose on the place, but we didn’t want to be taken over by it either. We really wanted to be a part of it. PART OF A WHOLE. This was a key idea within the planning process.
